Filipino Women Raising their Voice, Rising for Change

Women are raising their voices and demanding for change, once again. Just like in 1986 and 2001, women are joining the masses declaring “enough!” They say enough of rhetorics of good governance, of the blame game, of insensitivity, of human rights violations, of subservience and sell-out of the country.

Issue after issue has challenged the integrity and governance of President Benigno Simeon Aquino. Women, especially the poor and working class, has identified these issues as factors that cause their continuing impoverishment. As they analyze their condition, women opt for societal change. They realize that forming and acting for solutions will be a step forward in attaining their genuine emancipation.
