Is fare hike the solution to oil price hike?

The recurrent oil price hike takes its greatest toll on poor families, especially women and children. The increase in the price of oil immediately creates a domino effect that triggers the increase in the prices of other basic commodities, specially basic food items as well as fares for transportation services. The recent provisional fare hike announced by LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ) last week affected many but especially women who are primarily responsible for allocating budget for family’s expenses.
